Five Star comprises a series of 'star' shapes created from decommissioned, shredded South African banknotes (obtained with kind permission from the Head of the Currency & Integrity Division at the South African Reserve Bank).
Each 20 x 20cm artwork is available in all 5 ZAR denominations - R10; R20; R50; R100 and R200. (Edition size: 5)
The material holds great potential for metaphor in our country right now and interrogates matters of wealth and waste, poverty and want, and recycling as a positive intervention for both society and the environment.
