Artist Maaike Bakker
Year 2021

Maaike Bakker’s exhibition, An answer to an unknown question, presents a showcase of unique work on paper made in collaboration with the David Krut Workshop. These new works are presented in conversation with works made in the artists studio. This showcase highlights the similarities between Maaike’s studio practice and how she has incorporated and mirrored these practices in creating works on paper that have been run through a printing press using elements of collage, design, drawing and embossing to name a few. Maaike plays with abstraction in her work, seeking to depict scenes from alternate realities. The visual languages she employs in her art-making are typically precise and create compositions that have energy and a sense of movement as she makes use of shapes and colour.

Maaike Bakkers solo exhibition ‘An answer to an unknown question’ is opening on Saturday the 28th of May 2022 from 10am – 2pm at THE BLUE HOUSE (151 Jan Smuts Avenue, Parkwood) and will be up until 1st July 2022.
