Lizamore & Associates | Shutterland

Shutterland is a celebration of South African photography curated by Marnus Strydom, in association with Lizamore & Associates and FirstRand.

Photography is a powerful tool. It changed the way we documented our history and ourselves, cementing our way of living in time. A single photograph holds the power to change the course of the world, to break a heart, to spread hope or to celebrate beauty.
The exhibition features established and emerging photographers from the South African demograph, highlighting each photographer’s own conceptual and stylistic choices in how they document the local cultural and environmental landscapes.

Marnus Strydom is a fine art photographer based in Johannesburg. Strydom is also the head curator of the DeathB4Digital ( @deathb4digital) Instagram account and a partner at the Analogue Dreamers Club - an iniative aimed at providing photographers with better tools and oppurtunities to compete with an international market. Strydom has been working for four years in the contemporary art industry under the mentorship of Teresa Lizamore.
