Brian Webber is a multi-disciplinary artist who focuses on painting, collage and performance. The artist matriculated from Die Kruin, National school for the Arts in 1988, specialising in Fine Art. He studied Drama and Performance at the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg. This led him to acting (in Bent, alongside Mick Jagger, Ian McKellen, Clive Owen, directed by Sean Mathias) Webber continued exploring Performance through a company he and Sylvaine Strike founded, and still active, called - Fortune Cookie. Biran webber collaborated with Mary Holland in the opening of Staking Stock in 1997, curated by Marco Cianfinelli, Luan Nel and Andrea Burgener under the program of the French Institute at the time of the 2 nd Johannesburg Biennale on the disused Johannesburg Stock trading floor. In 2010 Brian Webber directed the film Liefling. He is currently living in Toronto, painting and doing performance. He exhibits in Cape Town and Toronto.
