Latitudes engages in two primary educational programmes, RMB Latitudes CuratorLab & ArtistLab.
RMB Latitudes CuratorLab is our flagship mentorship programme for early-career curators. Now in its fourth year, the initiative offers hands-on experience, peer engagement, mentorship and professional development to a new generation of African curators. With a focus on collaboration and context, CuratorLab equips participants to shape thoughtful, relevant exhibitions, while building networks across the continent.
ArtistLab is a professional practice skills development programme for artists looking to build a career in the industry. Hosted in 2021, this free 5-session intensive seminar programme trained participating artists in some of the key skills needed to build a strong foundation for a career in the arts. In addition, artists will develop work, under the supervision of an established artist, towards an online exhibition hosted by Latitudes. This programme was made possible by the generous support of the National Arts Council and the Norval Foundation, Cape Town.
