Abdullah Omer's " Untitled #9" was painted in 2024, as part of a series responding to the displacement and killings of people in South Sudan.
On 15 April 2023, violence erupted between the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) which has resulted in a severe humanitarian crisis. According to the United Nations, as of January 2024 more than 15,000 people have been killed, more than 33,000 injured and more than 7.4 million displaced (internally and externally) since fighting began.
