These pieces emerged from passages I wrote while sailing a transatlantic ocean crossing. A return to the blue book which holds many memories in writing. Much of the experience of sailing is held in body. These pieces are an attempt at bringing together what is held in text and in body. The titles are direct passages from the little blue book I wrote over the 31 day crossing and the size of the pieces are the same as the open blue book. I was amazed by the ease in which these pieces emerged and as surprised by the outcomes. Unplanned ~ an allowing. Bringing the words written 7 years ago to front of mind was the starting point each morning before I began the stitch. In the final pages of the book, the text becomes micro sized because I realized I still had lots I wanted to write down, but very few pages left in the book. Looking at it now I'm amazed to see a similarity in the form the text takes and the precision of stitch detail in the pieces. Something I can't quite understand or put my finger on clearly, but so glad for the space to bring text and stitch/ vibratory mark making together.
