Ntsako Nkuna

Nkuna, born and currently residing in Kempton Park (2001), holds a BA in Fine Art from the University  of Witwatersrand. 

Her interdisciplinary practice revolves around screen-printed 3D renders and metallic frames  reminiscent of architectural borders within residential spaces, she looks at this specifically in the  context of her hometown Kempton Park. This exploration sheds light on the extent to which  architectural structures can shape human interaction within environments. 

Nkuna's approach to merging digital and physical mediums was influenced by her exposure to virtual  spatiality through the internet and video games throughout her childhood. This introduction has  significantly impacted her perceptions of materiality, inhabitation, and worldbuilding, prompting her to  contemplate the concept of world-building beyond virtual reality and into her immediate surroundings. 

Nkuna presented Stop Nonsense, her first solo presentation with Kalashnikovv Gallery in 2023. She  was also awarded the Wits Fine Arts NEWWORK23 Prize.
