Grace Mokalapa was born in Soweto in 1992. She has been interested in art and fascinated by science. She developed an intense passion for drawing and painting and a curiosity in astronomy and philosophy. Mokolapa completed her high school education at Hoërskool Die Fakkel in 2010 and in 2011 she began to study visual arts at the University of Witwatersrand. She graduated in 2015 with a BA degree in Fine Arts and later became a recipient of the Studio Bursary at Assemblage Studios funded by the African Arts Trust. Mokolapa is currently working as an independent artist.
