Jet Withers
Jet Withers is a final year Fine Art student at Michaelis. She works with printmaking processes, photographically and sculpturally. She grew up in Johannesburg and moved to Cape Town to study in 2017. Jet is very involved in extracurricular work at the university; facilitating the annual Silent Auction which raises money for the materials bursary and graduation show. As well as organising enrichment for her theory course through artist guest lectures. Jet is currently working with the language of print to transform gelatine sheets into delicate sculptures. Her work explores translucency, light, and shadows as a way to speak about trauma, the body and liminal boundaries. Where process and material act as therapy.
