Lebo Kekana

Lebo Kekana
Lebo Kekana (b. 2000, South Africa) is the founder, director and curator of FEDE Arthouse. Practicing as a self-taught artist himself, Kekana makes figurative paintings depicting love and estrangement set along the Cape’s shoreline. With the intention to create the spaces he seeks to see his work exist in, Lebo started FEDE because of an age-old frustration. “I really wanted to get into the art scene in Cape Town, but I wasn’t very familiar with the channels or which doors to knock on,” he said in an interview in 2021 ,one year after Fede's inception. Rather than nurture resentment at the art world’s strange codes and habits, FEDE sets out to create alternative exhibition experiences which dismiss the commercial and clinical approach to exhibition-making for more of a curious and community-based one.
