Lebogang Mabusela

Lebogang Mogul Mabusela (b. 1999), is a multidisciplinary artist and self-proclaimed monotypebabe and zinequeen based in Johannesburg and Pretoria. She graduated with a BA in Fine Arts from the Wits School of Arts in 2019, where she was awarded the Standard Bank Fine Arts Prize.
Throughout her career, Mabusela has participated in numerous group exhibitions at prominent venues, including the Wits Art Museum, The Point of Order, The Project Space, The Melrose Gallery, Turbine Art Fair, and Latitudes Art Fair. She was also recognized as one of the top 50 Emerging Creatives at Design Indaba in Cape Town in 2020.
Mabusela is the founder of Makoti Technologies™ (est. 2017), a bridal gifts shop that offers a dynamic range of tools and technologies aimed at enhancing women's desires while subverting patriarchy. Her art draws on capitalism and consumer products to interrogate the value of art objects and challenges gender norms perpetuated by Sepedi-setswana proverbs. Mabusela's work is deeply rooted in her personal and collective experiences, making her an influential voice in contemporary South African art.
