Rhett Martyn

Rhett Martyn (b. 1971) lives, works and teaches in Johannesburg. As an interdisciplinary mid-career artist and designer, he has over 30 years of experience and has held more than ten solo exhibitions. His work spans various modes of representation in landscape and figurative traditions of sculpture, drawing, and painting, with a particular focus on emotive and expressive responses to these traditions.

Martyn's art often subliminally references conditions relevant to the socio-political landscape of South Africa. He holds a Masters in Fine Art from Wits University, earned in 2012.
