Tamara Osso enjoyed a career as a ballet and contemporary dancer. She performed with numerous local and international theatre companies before pursuing her studies in the visual arts field. In 2014 she completed her MAFA degree (with distinction) at WITS University and later, her PGCE certificate in education.
She understands her work to be a type of adaptive process which cannot be divorced from personal circumstance or the environment. The manifestations produced are often the result of processing the actions or thoughts of “the body” in particular spaces, places or times. They examine moments of physical interaction; be they joyous, difficult or mundane.
I enjoy how these moments can be suspended, extended or revisited. They, therefore, subscribe to the notion that personal, physical intimacy, is and will remain, valuable.” Her artworks almost always grapple with the connection between the immediacy of performance and the physicality of painting. A dynamic dance between now and then.
