Applications for the 2026 RMB Talent Unlocked Programme are now open.
Designed for full-time practising artists aged 18–35, RMB Talent Unlocked supports the development of sustainable artistic careers through mentorship, professional development, and industry exposure.
Participants will benefit from studio space, as well as an intensive capacity-building programme and guidance from experienced mentors, curators, and arts professionals.
The programme also provides opportunities to exhibit work and build meaningful connections within South Africa's art sector.

About the award
RMB’s support of the arts reflects our deep, enduring belief in the power of creativity to inspire, connect and give voice to Africa’s rich talent. Through RMB Talent Unlocked, in partnership with the FirstRand Foundation, we empower visual artists with mentorship, development and networking opportunities to grow their careers and contribute to the creative economy.
RMB Talent Unlocked is a 4-month structured development programme that enables emerging South African visual artists to grow and build their professional careers. In conjunction with Artist Proof Studio, Bag Factory and the KwaZulu-Natal Society of the Arts, the programme provides artists with mentorship, professional development, production assistance, training and access to markets.
Participating artists are tasked with developing and refining a body of work under the guidance of experienced artistic mentors and curators. Their work will form part of a group exhibition that connects them to collectors, curators and the broader public. Proceeds from artwork sales are directed to the artists to support their financial sustainability and career progression.
