A new opportunity for South Africa's emerging photographers!

The Santu Mofokeng Foundation Photography Prize has been established to recognise and support outstanding emerging photographers working in South Africa. Launched in 2026 by the Santu Mofokeng Foundation in collaboration with Latitudes, the Prize honours Mofokeng's legacy by investing in new photographic voices whose work demonstrates a thoughtful and compelling engagement with the medium.

Through a national open call, the Prize seeks to identify artists whose practices reflect the depth, sensitivity and critical awareness that characterised Mofokeng's own work.

Applications are officially open and close on 15 October 2026.

Winner receives:

R100,000 cash prize
