Carina Ubisse Capitine (b. 1990) is a Mozambican artist working across ceramics, writing, and audiovisual practices. Her practice draws from lived experience and self-reflection, exploring the body, memory, nature, sensuality, and ancestry.

Her ceramic practice draws on traditional hand-building techniques, using locally sourced raw clay and wood-firing as part of her process. Her audiovisual work is experimental, at times drawing from documentary and video art. Her writing is intimate, lyrical, ritualistic, and even elegiac at times, finding beauty and aliveness in both the presence of death and the ordinary pleasures of living.

Her work has been exhibited in Mozambique and Germany, and she has participated in artist residencies in Angola and Portugal. In 2024, she received an Honourable Mention in the Visual Arts category of the Mozal Art Prize. She holds a Master’s degree in Communication and Development Studies from Ohio University, USA, as a Fulbright Scholar.
