Chidinma Yemisi Mordi is a Nigerian multidisciplinary artist based in Abuja whose practice explores cultural observation, storytelling, and the everyday realities of Nigerian life. Born in Kaduna to Igbo and Yoruba parents, she draws from a rich blend of traditions that shape her visual language. Her early interest in drawing developed into a sustained practice, supported by her family, who preserved her childhood works and encouraged her creative path.
Trained as an architect with both a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree from the Federal University of Technology, Minna, she brings a strong sense of structure and spatial balance into her paintings. Working across acrylic, ink, mixed media, and digital illustration, she translates everyday scenes—markets, public transport, and social gatherings—into expressive figurative works that reflect identity, memory, resilience, and cultural pride. She is also a children’s book illustrator and author of the Fruit of the Spirit Colouring Book.
Her exhibitions span Nigeria and international platforms, including shows in Lagos, Abuja, London, and Paris. Selected highlights include Onyemaechi: Who Knows Tomorrow (Solo, 2023), Give Tomorrow a Chance (Solo, 2023), EmpowerHER (London, 2024), L’été Parisien (Paris, 2024), the NES30 Art Exhibition (2024), Art for Governance at the Nigerian National
Assembly where she was First Runner-Up (2025), and the +234 Art Fair (Lagos, 2025 & 2026). She is also a NES30 Art Competition finalist and a British Airways Art & Essay Competition awardee.
Her work continues to document and celebrate Nigerian life while contributing to contemporary African art conversations across global spaces.
