Born in Johannesburg, South Africa in 2004, Haroun Loukidis is an emerging contemporary photographer whose work offers an intimate glimpse into youth and connection. Raised in a highly creative household where both of his parents are photographers, visual storytelling became a natural language and an instinctive method of self-expression for him from an early age. Loukidis has formalized his technical skills and artistic voice at The Thami Mnyele Local Studio (TTLC), where he successfully completed both the Beginners and Mid-level photography programmes.

It was during his time in the mid-level curriculum that he developed his signature aesthetic. His distinct methodology involves working almost exclusively at night, utilizing a harsh, direct flash to puncture the darkness. This technique lends an ethereal, dreamlike quality to his imagery while maintaining a deeply grounding, playful energy.

By focusing his lens on his brothers and close friends, Loukidis captures the raw, fleeting essence of adolescence, exploring themes of brotherhood, identity, and transitioning youth. His compelling perspective earned him a spot in the prestigious TTLC Salon Show, marking him as a rising talent to watch within the South African contemporary art scene.
