Kyle Glendinning is a Cape Town-based artist whose practice examines the intersection of engineering, architecture, and human ambition. Focusing on “engineered vulnerability,” he creates intricate paper and mixed-media sculptures that explore how iconic infrastructure both connects communities and embodies fragility.

His work, including The Expanse – a 1,640mm paper model of the Millau Viaduct – reinterprets monumental structures to highlight their precariousness, using precision paper engineering alongside wood, thread, steel, and other materials. Through these detailed constructions, Glendinning investigates how physical structures shape collective memory, place, and our understanding of human achievement.
