Neo Ramushu
South Africa

Neo Mokgoshing (preferred name Neo Ramushu) is a South African abstract visual artist based in Johannesburg. His work explores the complex intersections between
politics, identity, and the human condition through bold, layered abstraction.
Drawing on the material and emotional textures of his environment, Mokgoshing uses coal, ferrochrome, chrome, and other raw elements to construct deeply tactile surfaces that embody both struggle and transformation. His paintings merge the physicality of industrial materials with the fluidity of paint, creating compositions that speak to South Africa’s social evolution and its layered historical memory.

Through a balance of intensity and intuition, Neo’s practice questions systems of power while reimagining hope and identity within the abstract form.
