Salami Azeez (b. 1993, Lagos, Nigeria) is a visual artist whose figurative and expressionistic paintings explore the human condition. Working with oil, acrylic, and mixed media, he combines vibrant color, texture, and symbolism to reflect on resilience, vulnerability, and identity. The motif of chess recurs in his work as a metaphor for life, revealing strategies, sacrifices, and unpredictability. Influenced by his communal upbringing in Lagos, Azeez draws from everyday human stories to foster reflection and connection. He holds a diploma in Fine Art from Yaba College of Technology and a degree in Visual Arts (Painting) from the University of Lagos. His work has been shown in Nigeria and abroad, including in Austria and South Africa. In 2025, he was commissioned by Tikera Africa to paint Queen Mary of Denmark.
