Boitumelo Makousu is an independent curator, researcher, and founder of Kulture Imbizo Projects, a Pan-African curatorial platform dedicated to exploring the intersections of contemporary art, heritage, archives, and public memory. Based in Johannesburg, she is currently an MA candidate in Heritage Studies at the University of the Witwatersrand.

Makousu serves as a Board Director at Bag Factory Artist Studio's. She has served also served as a Curator and Online Platform Manager at Latitudes Online and led the RMB Special Projects: International Galleries section at the RMB Latitudes Art Fair, where she curated the 2025 Botswana Focus and the 2026 Nigeria Focus. Her practice spans curating, research, project management, and art education, informed by experience across leading South African institutions including the Javett Art Centre at the University of Pretoria, Bag Factory Artists' Studios, and the NWU Art Gallery.

Working across contemporary art, heritage, and transnational cultural networks, Makousu is interested in how curatorial practice can activate archives, shape public memory, and foster dialogue across Africa and its diaspora. Through exhibitions, research, and collaborative initiatives, she creates platforms that foreground underrepresented histories, encourage critical exchange, and contribute to more inclusive and interconnected African cultural ecosystems.
