ChloΓ« Shain (b. 1993, Johannesburg) is a multidisciplinary artist and anthropologist.
She has an Honours in Fine Art from the University of the Witwatersrand and a PhD in Anthropology from the University of Cape Town. Shainβs practice spans a diverse range of mediums including painting, digital collage, video animation and installation.
Her current body of work explores our relationships with mobile phones through touchscreen finger gestures. In 2022, she exhibited a sculptural installation at Nirox Sculpture Park and an installation across three locations, including The Point of Order, for the Wits School of the Arts postgraduate conference. In addition, Shain took part in NewWork22 at Wits Art Museum and Turbine Art Fairβs Paper exhibition. In 2023, Shain was selected for Turbine Art Fairβs Unearthed mentorship programme, forming part of their group exhibition at the 2023 Turbine Art Fair.
