La Motte Ateljee

The Ateljee is La Motte’s new contemporary gallery space, a young creative studio with along and meaningful history. Formerly the Pierneef Museum, the space has evolved into a platform for seasonal themed exhibitions that showcase both established and emerging artists.
True to its name, Ateljee meaning “artist’s workshop,” the space serves as a place of creativity, interaction and learning. Monthly workshops are hosted and invite guests to engage directly with artists, share in the creative process, and experience the joy of making.
Our vision extends beyond traditional definitions of fine art. We celebrate artistic expression in all its forms, from painting and sculpture to design, craft and making. At the Ateljee, we believe that art is not confined to the gallery alone, but is found in the gestures, materials, and ideas that shape our world.
