Timika Sukhai
Johannesburg, South Africa

Timika Sukhai is a South African born writer and curator whose practice explores archival histories, Indigenous knowledge, displacement, and cultural memory. She holds an MA in English and History from the University of Dundee, where her research focused on postcolonial narratives and the politics of memory.

Working across writing, research, and curatorial practice, Timika examines how colonial archives shape historical representation, using creative and critical approaches to challenge dominant narratives. She is an art writer for "Contemporary Lynx" and has collaborated with artists, cultural organisations, and community-led initiatives.

Her projects include "Beyond Barbarians" (2025), developed through V&A Dundee "A Fragile Correspondence" residency. In 2026, she was selected for RMB Latitudes and Art School Africa "CuratorLab 2026 ", through which she developed "The Weight of Distance", an online exhibition exploring historical and contemporary connections between Africa and Brazil.

Her practice connects art, history, and storytelling, with a focus on ethical representation and reimagining cultural narratives across Africa and beyond.
