RMB Latitudes Art Fair presents a Special Project by featured artist Dada Khanyisa (b. 1991, Umzimkhulu; lives in Cape Town). Titled Above and Beyond, the exhibition is positioned in one of the Fair's most distinctive architectural spaces, the Turret. Khanyisa's practice centres on sculptural paintings and painted wooden assemblages that move between painting, collage and low-relief sculpture. Drawing from everyday social moments and contemporary South African life, Khanyisa transforms intimate interactions into reflections on broader dynamics – from youth culture to community and belonging. The particular site specific installation, comprised of a number of different panels, draws on pop cultural references and memories particular to a young Black adult navigating leisure in Cape Town, Southj Africa. Rendered in the midst of tensions and passion, Khanyisa liberates their figures from the typical idylic stillness of the fine art subject.
