Lullaby 2

I first devised and employed this woolen dust on paper medium in 2004 and have developed it in my practice over a number of years in various ways. It remains for me primarily associated with the transient nature of all things, including my own existence. The Lullaby series of drawings was born out of my concern with species extinction. Each lost species will, in time, fade into the living memory of a few, and then fewer, and eventually will exist only as a record of something that was lost. This series is my sad farewell to lost species. The grid structure of these drawings, one I've used in other series, is a reference to our need to partially obscure what we see and what we know in order to survive the pain of loss.
