"Ungowakwethu Wena," meaning "You Belong to Us," is a photography and collage project that delves into the rich tapestry of historical, cultural identity, and unity within a diverse community. This project is a personal exploration of Fuwe's experiences growing up as a Sotho individual in a predominantly Zulu area of Nquthu, KZN, under the leadership of Sotho King Morena Molefe. Through the lens of cultural ceremonies, the project captures the distinct yet harmonious coexistence of the Basotho and Zulu people. These ceremonies are the rare occasions when the two cultures distinctly reveal themselves, while daily life reflects their seamless integration. The process involves photographing portraits during these vibrant celebrations and then reimagining the scenes through collage, creating a visual representation of the unity and interaction between these two cultures.
