Material Study II

Material Study II forms part of a broader material-based inquiry within my multidisciplinary practice, through which I examine African wax print, denim, and tartan as culturally hybrid materials shaped by histories of movement, trade, colonialism, and global circulation. Across this ongoing body of work, I research the histories embedded within these materials and question how they acquire cultural meanings over time, particularly what it means to describe a material as culturally “authentic.” Medium: African wax print, denim, and tartan
