Notes on pocketing joy: a Philodendron obsession
Continuing the emotional inquiry, Roanna turns inward to explore the quiet intimacies between humans and the natural world. A minimally rendered, solitary figure is introduced and engaged in a ritual act of tending to a Philodendron plant, an object that has become a personal obsession and symbolic joy to the artist.
Reflective of the artist’s evolving relationship with rest, plants, and personal rhythm, this work holds questions of what it means to guard joy intentionally, how tending to something offers a way through chaos, and ultimately, invites viewers to consider how small acts of care can create space for healing.
