Serenity

My work focuses on the issue of crime in South Africa. I look at the complexity of our current social landscape as high levels of violent crime, murder, rape and theft shows void of hope in our country. I explore the point of confrontation and consequences of violent behaviour. I create scenarios from personal and local references that contribute to the reading of this chaotic issue. I use animals as representation of the perceived perpetrators in the re-enactment of these current events. I use expressive lines in order to emphasize the density and intensity of this sensitive subject matter connected. My artworks are attempts to find solutions to this problematic matter that’s affecting so many lives.
