The mission impossible part 2

My work centres on the theme of prevention, strongly influenced by my personal experiences with gender-based violence (GBV). Through linocut and drypoint techniques, I explore self-identity and seek to highlight the violence that affects women in my country. My art draws from my community and cultural experiences, expressing emotion and identity through my body, body language, and sign language. As a Deaf person who has faced mental health challenges due to rape and  violence, I deeply understand the feeling of exclusion from both my family and society. In my art, I honour the achievements of the Deaf community while also acknowledging the barriers we face in South Africa. I connect the theme of prevention with mental health issues, youth empowerment, and Deaf awareness. My main goal is to raise awareness and advocate for justice.
