Weather Works 39

Cyanotype, copper, tannin and rust on archival cotton. Weathering works – form part of a larger body of work (weathering, fragmenting, gathering) undertaken as part of Brigitta's PhD, Wayfaring Stone (2023). They consider the stony entanglements of post-mining landscapes to be vital agents in the ongoing process of terrain formation. These works ask the viewer to question mining and urban despoliation beyond the narrative of wasteland, and to see them as vital co-Labouré with human and other-than-human inhabitants in Johannesburg's urban terrains.
