This artwork talks about “Ukoyisa uvalo" meaning overpowering your fear. As a young man who grew up in the Eastern Cape looking after animals at home was my responsibility, but I was afraid of them because they were dangerous and scary. One day my grandfather asked me to take one of his horses to the river so it could have some water. While I was standing and watching it drink, a thought came to my mind “how about if I try to climb the horse"? When it was finished drinking, I held it softly and brushed it. It stood still. I then jumped on top and began to ride the horse slowly heading back home. The experience of being on top of the horse was exciting. I did not fall. Since that day, I learnt that fear can restrict you from achieving your goals or stop you from moving forward in life. If you are fearful, you would not dare to try new things in life but if you are fearless nothing can stand in your way.
