Barreiro in Ecologies: River, #2

Barreiro in Ecologies: River, #2 (2025) Inkjet print on cotton Fine Art paper The River in Ecologies series, turns Eunice’s attention to the river as both an ecological system and a carrier of memory. Water connects different points in a landscape while continuously moving through them, gathering traces of the places and lives it encounters. The river therefore becomes a way of thinking about memory itself: fluid, layered and constantly changing, yet capable of connecting the present to what came before. Within River in Ecologies, the work considers how water holds relationships between landscape, human settlement and time, reminding us that the histories of a place are not contained only within its buildings, but also within the natural systems that surround and sustain them.
