“vida em um mangue” deepens a question that runs throughout my research: understanding existence not as an individual experience, but as a collective construction shaped by relationships between territory, nature, community and culture. In this work, the mangrove represents both an image and a way of thinking. It is a territory marked by mud, humidity and an appearance that often distances it from conventional ideals of landscape and beauty, yet precisely because of these characteristics, it constitutes one of the most important environments for sustaining life. It is a nursery, a refuge, a territory for reproduction and a source of food. Its power lies not in what it immediately offers to the eye, but in the complex network of relationships it sustains. It is within this contrast that the work finds its social dimension. The thinking of Manguebeat is an important reference for this reading. By transforming the mangrove into an image of creation, mixture and survival, the mangrove becomes a way of thinking about the city through its flows and contradictions. What appears marginal may, in reality, be what sustains the centre. The work draws a connection between this condition and the experience of populations living on the peripheries of large cities. These regions are often perceived through what they lack — infrastructure, planning, investment or recognition — yet they are also territories deeply fertile in cultural production, invention, sociability and their own ways of organising life. These spaces sustain the metropolis not only through the labour of their populations, but also through the continuous production of languages, music, images, celebrations, knowledge and ways of being.
