FEDE Arthouse Presents: Arthouse

Embark on a cultural exchange at Arthouse, a collaborative exhibition by FEDE Arthouse and Spanish fashion label Can Pep Rey.

Bridging Borders:
This unique project merges art, design, and architecture as seven South African artists – Terence Maluleke, Banele Khoza, Tzung-Hui Lauren Lee, Shakil Solanki, Michael Tymbios, and Lebo Kekana - showcase their work in an unexpected setting: Can Pep Rey's finca (traditional estate) in Santa Gertrudis, Ibiza.

From Home to Gallery:
The finca transforms from a private residence into a vibrant gallery space, fostering intimacy and fostering dialogues between art objects and the surrounding environment. Each artwork becomes an integral part of the home, imbuing it with unique energy and encouraging reflection.

Evoking Change:
Drawing inspiration from Octavia Butler's quote, “All that you touch you change. All that you change changes you,” the exhibition explores the transformative power of connection. The artists, through their diverse styles and mediums, touch the finca with narratives that transcend geographical and artistic boundaries.

Exploring Connections:
Locale: The exhibition fosters a dialogue between South Africa and Spain.
Practice: Fashion and art come together in a unique collaboration.
Medium: Painting and printmaking interweave, creating a multisensory experience.
Space: The gallery and home spaces merge, blurring the line between public and private experience.
Logic: Exhibition making and homemaking intertwine in a seamless blend.

Each artwork offers a unique perspective, from Tymbios's captivating landscapes to Kekana's exploration of space's psychological effect. Lee's abstract forms and Solanki's intimate figures further enrich the tapestry, culminating in a powerful reflection on the interconnectedness of people, nature, spaces, and objects.

Exhibition Dates: August 24th to September 8th, 2023
