Rudolf Seibeb is an established Namibian painter and multi-media artist whose work occupies a distinctive space between abstraction and an intuitive observation of reality. Born and based in Okahandja, Seibeb’s practice reflects a deep engagement with the people, stories, and textures of his environment. Predominantly working in acrylic on canvas, he often extends his paintings into sculptural assemblages, combining found materials such as iron, wood, concrete, and animal skin. These tactile elements lend his work a visceral quality that speaks to his hands-on, action-oriented approach to both art and life.
A largely self-taught artist, Seibeb honed his skills at the John Muafangejo Art Centre in the 1990s, developing a vivid visual language marked by bold lines, layered colour, and expressive human forms. His work explores themes of community, resilience, and transformation, offering insight into Namibia’s social and cultural landscape.
Over the last few years, Seibeb’s career has expanded beyond Namibia’s borders. His paintings have featured in two major South African art fairs, and is featured in a number of local and international collections. The forthcoming publication Rudolf Seibeb: Portraits of the Common by the ARAK Collection will further cement his place in Namibian art history.
Despite this growing recognition, Seibeb remains grounded and deeply connected to his community working from his studio in Okahandja and connected to the community that is his muse.
