Andiswa Bhungane
Andiswa, known to her friends as Andy, is a mixed medium luxury artist based in Johannesburg. Andiswa is a Bachalor of Commerce graduate from the University of KwaZulu Natal. Andiswa was born in KwaZulu Natal to a family of creatives, her mother is a dressmaker and pastry chef and her sister is an event planner and restauranteur. Her family encouraged her love of art and helped hone her creative skills.
Andiswa works with resin, plaster, oil paint, acrylic and different forms of gold. She started her art journey two years ago and hit the ground running with two collections, titled, “Tempt the fates once more” and “Darling, might we dance?”. These collections were inspired by the feeling of dancing and enjoying life’s simple but euphoric pleasures. “To dance is to be out of yourself, larger, more beautiful , more powerful…this is power. It is glory on Earth and it is yours for the taking” – Agnes De Mille.
Her last collection, “Invitation to the dance”, is a collection of 3D sculpted pieces on canvas, beaming with colour and texture.
Andy is a lively person who enjoys spending time with her loved ones, social events and outside activities. She also enjoys a quiet evening reading or watching old luxury brand documentaries.
