Atsho Nodada is a multidisciplinary artist based in Johannesburg. He is currently completing his BA degree in Bachelor of Fine Arts at the University of Johannesburg, majoring in sculpture and drawing. He approaches both practices in a way that seeks to create a universe, a distant one, populated by ghostly figures wondering in space. He describes his work as ways of grieving significant memories that he re-visits every now and then in the present.
Nodada re-creates these moments through his sculptural practice to interrogate them, give them a new narrative and let them go. He calls himself a “story-teller” in the way he creates relationships and forces a narrative in the sculptures he creates. This goes for his drawing practice as well with surreal compositions that depict ghosts wandering in space seeking home to rest eternally.
