Abdus Salaam

Abdus Salaam (b. 1989, Cape Town) is a self-taught artist whose multidisciplinary practice spans photography, videography, and mixed media installations. His decade in Los Angeles greatly influenced his artistic journey, which reignited upon his return to Cape Town. Salaam’s work bridges science and spirituality, focusing on minimalism and philosophy to create profound meanings within each medium.

Salaam's diverse practice includes both traditional tools, such as 8x10 photography and oil/acrylic painting, and unconventional materials like clay, glass, and stone. Through his installations, he blurs the lines between the physical and the ethereal, exploring the essence of form and meaning.

He has exhibited at prestigious venues like AVA, Smit Studios, and Gallery MOMO, and his work is part of numerous private collections, earning him recognition both locally and internationally.
