Abdus Salaam

Cape Town-born, self-taught artist Abdus Salaam born 1989 ,weaves poetry into a multi-disciplinary practice encompassing photography, videography, and mixed media installations. After a formative decade in LA, his return to Cape Town five years ago fuelled his artistic journey.

Salaam's work bridges the scientific and spiritual realms. He employs a minimalist, philosophical approach, often focusing on the essence of each medium to build meaning. His diverse tools include traditional (8x10 photography, oil/acrylic painting) and unconventional materials (clay, glass, stone) to create installations that blur the lines between the physical and the ethereal.

Salaam has exhibited at esteemed venues like AVA, Smith Studios, and Gallery MOMO, and his work finds a home in numerous private collections.
