Association for Visual Arts | Connecting Futures
Presented by the Association for Visual Arts, Connecting Futures is a programme of visual art exhibitions, video art screenings, and a collective exhibition at the RMB Latitudes Art Fair. It aims to commemorate Africa Month by bringing together the creative talent of young visual artists from across the African continent and presenting it to the South African public. The programme aims to give a platform for African and African diaspora-based artists to present their work, connect with audiences in South Africa, and stimulate the building of connections between young people on the continent.
The programme aims to facilitate the dialogue about the future of the continent as well as about its current challenges. This dialogue will cut across countries’ borders on the continent of Africa, reveal a diversity of perspectives, foster mutual respect, and reflect on the heritage of Pan-Africanism in the contemporary moment.
The Association for Visual Arts is a non-profit, membership-based arts organisation with the primary aim of advancing and promoting South African contemporary art and artists. The AVA Gallery is based in the heart of Cape Town, having occupied its current premises at 35 Church Street since 1971. It is the oldest non-profit art gallery in Cape Town, dedicated to making important contributions to the ‘open texture’ of South Africa’s art community.
This show runs from 22 - 26 May at the RMB Latitudes Art Fair 2024.
