Luzuko Dayile

Luzuko Dayile
Luzuko Dayile is an emerging artist, born in King Williams Town in 1989. He has been a full-time practicing artist since 2012 but has been passionate about art since early childhood. He completed a Diploma in Fine Art at Walter Sisulu University and furthered his artistic interests through an internship as a Professional Printer and Printmaking facilitator at Artist Proof Studio. His artworks have been displayed in many exhibitions ranging from Grahamstown in the Eastern Cape, to Boston, Massachusetts. Seated at the heart of Luzuko’s artworks is the relationship he has with his daughter “A bond that happened instantly, and at birth the first time I laid eyes on my little girl I loved her more than anything on earth” he says. The recurrent theme of the horse in his works represents this bond. “…I got a horse when I was a child that brought me so much love and happiness. And now that same horse brings my daughter so much love and happiness. It is a deep connection that we share." This connection has inspired his artworks, through which he shares his own love and fears as well as the everyday struggles and behaviours that he sees in those around him. "My daughter is my life…Every man should show his strength through his love and protection of his children. Not by abusing women and children.”
