Themba Sibeko

Themba Sibeko
Themba Sibeko (b.1994) in Johannesburg, is a self-taught artist who studied Analytical chemistry at the University of Johannesburg. While studying Chemistry, which looks at the relationship of bonding between atoms/elements, I was influenced to take this study to my art practice as well to investigate human connections. Inspired by people around me, my work is a contemplative study of the unknown possibilities of walking into new scenarios, situations, relationships and territories in peoples lives. Removal of facial features signifies the need for recognition, approval and sense of belonging. My work also questions authentic human interactions by removing all the stigmas attached to human connections, reminding everyone that we are humans first. My work has recently been featured In a group exhibition titled “My first love”.
