Giancarlo LaGuerta (b. Gaborone, Botswana) is a self-taught multidisciplinary artist.
LaGuerata’s work is centered around his personal psychological states as well universal
ideas about the human experience. Through photography, painting, drawing, video, collage
and digital art, Giancarlo explores the relationship between masculinity and violence
through the specificity of a Southern-African context. His work raises questions about
existentialism and also attempts to destigmatize conversations around masculinity,
politics, culture and heritage.
