WORLDART Gallery Presents: Worse Than Heroin- A Celebration of Cape Town Street Art

From rebellion to renown, street art has carved a unique path in the artistic landscape. Emerging in the 1970s, it provided a voice for marginalized groups and challenged societal norms.

Cape Town, steeped in a history of social struggle, boasts a vibrant street art scene. This exhibition celebrates the city's talented artists, carrying on the legacy of the pioneers who spoke truth to power.

Worse Than Heroin, a thought-provoking title highlighting the stark contrast between the potential three-year prison sentence for creating street art and the lighter punishment for drug use. The irony underscores the ongoing battle for recognition and legal space faced by street artists.

Third Time's a Charm: This exhibition marks the third installment of its kind at WORLDART, solidifying their commitment to showcasing the power and evolution of street art.

From Streets to Galleries: This exhibition brings renowned local artists like MOTELSEVEN, Nardstar*, Mars, and Dekor-One under one roof.

Beyond the Wall: While masterful street artists create impactful works in public spaces, the studio allows for further exploration. Here, artists like Henry Hamilton delve into intricate canvases and wool pieces.
