Our social identities, though seemingly forming at an individual level, are constantly shaped by societal norms and expectations. This exhibition explores the concept of "self" not as a fixed entity, but as a dynamic process influenced by our interactions with others.
As we strive to connect within our social fabric, we often enact a specific "self-performance," a reflection of both individual expression and societal influences. This performance, shaped by the perceived expectations of others, can leave us feeling disconnected when the underlying social contract is compromised.
Artists, navigating the tension between personal expression and audience engagement, face their own challenges in balancing their individual selves with the performative aspects of the public self.
Hiatus seeks to create a space for introspection and artistic exploration. Through a diverse group of artists, the exhibition celebrates the visual vocalization of individuality and the evolving nature of the self.
