Wounds on a Wall is informed by one of the many centuries-old, ceramic tile designs (known as "azulejos") found in the city of Seville, Spain, where I am currently based. The marks of time that can be found on these historic tiles, like chips, scratches, water stains, and faded colours could be seen as visual traces of lost moments, but for me, it also comes across as "scars" or "wounds" on a building. In this work, the specific tile design itself also reminded me of wounds, draws parallels between body and building as vessels of memory, and as concepts in continuous flux.
