Mokoko (2020) emerged from Ndimande’s mother’s red-handled scissors. The blades form the chicken’s beak, but the chicken itself is also disembodied. In the piece, Ndimande plays with the tension between victim and oppressor. In the works, Ndimande raises some pertinent questions while transforming functional objects into imaginative pieces of art.
